Hitting Pause
Taking a break to decide where this column should go next.
No regular post this week, in part because I’m heading out of town to the wine and redwood country to do a book event at Healdsburg’s THE 222 this evening. (Please join me if you’re in the neighborhood.) This is an ideal time to take a break and rethink where, after 79 posts, my Substack is headed.
It began as a way of letting people know about my latest book, Cast out of Eden, and the many issues the story raises. The book’s been out for almost a year and a half now, and the focus on John Muir in this format feels limiting. So I’m thinking through how to expand my editorial remit, likely in the direction of the new book idea I’m working out.
Since I won’t be delivering the usual Thursday post for at least a couple of weeks, paid subscriptions will be paused until I’m back up and running. That way you won’t be paying for dead air.
And if you have a question about John Muir, a comment that could lead to further discussion, or an idea on what you’d like to see here, please post it in the Comments. I’ll be sure to respond.
Thanks for being there, for your patience, and for reading. Writers can’t ask for more.

Nothing wrong with taking a break. Enjoy yourself!
Enjoy the pause, Bob! I appreciate your words!
